Bahrain joins the Apostille Convention

The Kingdom of Bahrain joined the Apostille convention in April, 2013, and it will come into action starting 31thDecember, 2014. Bahrain will no longer accept embassy certificates as a validity acknowledgement of the foreign documents. The government of Bahrain  is now accepting the Apostille as the only authorized certification for all types of foreign documents. The Apostille Convention abolishes the bureaucratic procedures of document legalization and replaces it with only the Apostille Certificate.

The Arab American Chamber of Commerce is constantly contacting the governmental bodies and foreign embassies in the United States to keep up to date with the latest rules so as to provide its customers with accurate information to avoid any delays or obstacles while processing the export documents. Bahrain used to accept Embassy Certificates as an attestation of the validity of the documents. It usually takes more time to acquire embassy certificates as it requires more than one signature. But starting from January,2014, Bahrain joined the Apostille Convention and the Apostille become the only required certificate to acknowledge the authenticity of the document. It is believed that joining the Apostille convention helps in increasing the rate of external trade as foreign investors tends to deal with the countries that do not impose a lot of procedures for document authentication.
The Arab American Chamber of Commerce is pleased to serve its clients authenticating documents for use in Bahrain. Please Visit the official website Arab Chamber for more information about the new regulations.
